The Best Video Games of 2010

Well, hello fellow Gaming junkies, Paul here and its that time of year, when everything gets cold, gifts are returned, pants are shit in, and Top 5 or 10 lists are shooting at you left and right! By now you've probably read tons of top end of the year lists, and you are probably gonna skip mine cause I'm not Morgan or Adam or Knightly, well then fuck you. Ha, just kidding, please don't close my page, sorry, I didn't mean to offend you, come back...I got Gifts! No I don't, but I got a great list! Well fellow gamers here is My top 5 games of 2010, these are games I beat the main quest to, and if you don't agree, suck it like X-Pac....here we GO!

5. Mafia II

I'm a sucker for story, plain and simple. Now Mafia II is not the greatest sandbox open world game, not by along shot, I mean GTA series blows this game out of the water, BUT..this game had story. I am a huge fan of Goodfellas and the Godfather series, so being put in the shoes of one of those made men was a shit load of fun. The game has it flaws, the handling of the cars is not all that great (but you are driving cars from the 40's and 50's) and some of the missions can be a bit tedious and difficult, very difficult. I just love the games charm and characters like Joe, your sidekick is one of the best characters to be in a video game in a long time, plus all twist and turns in the story are awesome. I looked forward to every cut scene as the storyline progressed. 2K Czech, I can't wait for Mafia III, just don't give me a half-assed story like the DLC Joe's missions, horrible.

4. Heavy Rain

While Growing up in the NES era I played games like Shadow Gate and Deja Vu, and even old Lucas arts games such as Day of the Tenticle and Monkey Island, so I love the whole choose your adventures/point and click games, and Heavy Rain brought this sense of nostalgia back for me. In Heavy Rain you play as 4 Characters, whose lives are intertwined and revolving around the Oragami killer, it plays out like a movie, each decision you do ultimately decides your fate, pretty cool huh? The graphics are phenomenal, some the facial expressions are that of a Pixar movie plus the eyes, my god are the eyes a selling point to me on how technology has advanced. I love how easy the game is to play, press R1 or move the joystick in a certain direction game play, but once again the story is go getter for me, I mean there are so many outcomes. Quaticdream is doing thing other developers only dream of...get it (bad pun?).

3. Call of Duty: Black Ops

I have never beat a Call of Duty game, except for Call of Duty 2. So many of you may say, Man Paul Modern Warfare 2 was better or even World at war is the shit! Well I never beat those, and multiplayer was always first in line for those titles. I have to say this though, once I started the single player campaign I really enjoyed the story. Paranoia, deception, fear, and action! My LORD THE ACTION! The set pieces were amazing and the in-game cut scenes were incredible, also voice work by Ed Harris, Gary Oldman, Ice Cube, and Sam Worthington helped sell the characters too. I enjoyed the multiplayer modes, including Zombie mode and all the Easter eggs hidden as well. Bravo Treyarch, bravo to you.

2. God of War III

Holy Shit! That's all I have to say, HOLY SHIT! This game had some of the most amazing graphics I have ever scene, I mean talk about cinematics becoming game play, we have finally made it. This had me in awe, from how epic the boss battles were to the story it self, and the gore, my god, So. Much. BLOOD. This game is brutal, Kratos had a arsenal to rip entrails out to smashing faces in, I loved the Hercules fight, face caved in.....enough said. I give high marks to Santa Monica Studios for putting out such a polished product, this game makes you want to own a PS3, as soon as you show a friend the power of it, they will buy a PS3, yes they will. Grade A shit right here, no joke.

1. Red Dead Redemption

Rockstar Games can do no wrong. I'm serious, I mean they have a great track record, they put 100% into everything they put out. The Houser brothers can write great dialogue and a great story that every player wants to know the outcome to, and this had a great one. From the beautiful landscapes to the awesome side missions, RDR had it all. I love the main character John Martson, he is up there with Niko and even Joe from Mafia II, all the quirky individuals you meet throughout this open world adventure is fucking spectacular. The game's multiplayer even threw me for a loop, great challenges and team matches made its appeal last longer. The soundtrack by Bill Elm and Woody Jackson is fucking bliss as well, great Sergio Leone inspired stuff all together. Rockstar I hope L.A. Noir lives up to the hype like RDR did, can't wait for Spring 2011.

Well there it is in a nutshell, Top 5, hope you enjoyed it. Next week the top 5 worst! but before I go here are a list of the runners up....GAME ON!

Dead Rising 2- Great follow up to the 2007 original.

Super Street fighter- New additions made it a great experience, plus not a bad price tag.

Epic Mickey- any Disney fans dream, great stuff Mr. Specter.

Fallout: New Vegas- a wonderful open world RPG, and I'm not really into those.

Alan Wake- Silent hill meets Resident evil- good scary stuff.

GAME ON! 2011 will be killer,

Bioshock 2 review

First off let me tell you that first Bioshock was one of the greatest FPS ever! When that game came out in 2007 I remember trying to pick that game early due to stores breaking a release date for it. The game had great art direction, a story that had great twists, and things I have never seen in a FPS before. Ken Levine and everyone at 2k did a great job putting Rapture together, it was a mind blowing game in my opinion. The way the first game ended you did not even think that a sequel was going to be made. 2k Marin thought differently.

2k Marin had a question to answer: "How do we make a sequel to game that introduced a city so unique, so original, that gamers will want to revisit that city?", we put the gamers in a big daddy suit? We add multi player? We create a new villain, the Big sister! 2k Marin took on this heavy load and Created Bioshock 2, a game to me that was not needed. Oh believe me, when I heard news of a sequel to Bioshock happening, my dick got hard! But then when I heard that Ken Lavine and the team that created the first Bioshock was not doing it, I got skeptical. A year past and after two delays and hearing that not 2 but 4 developers were working on Bioshock 2, I began to get even more skeptical! Then February 9th came, I played, I beat, and I enjoyed Bioshock 2........But didn't love it as much as the first Bioshock, and this is why.

'

Bioshock 2 starts by throwing you back into Rapture (a character in its own), but not as Jack from the first Bioshock, but as the First Big Daddy Prototype. You awaking 10 years after the plasmids and splicers took over Rapture, and there you find things have gotten worse for the citizens of this once great city. Dr. Lamb has become a god like figure to Andrew Ryan's once rising utopia. The game to me had a very similar feel to the first Bioshock, but it lost that survival horror aspect. Places seemed familiar, enemies did not seem as shocking and the noise of a big daddy did not seem as menacing as before. I did enjoy some new enemies, such as the brute splicer, and of course the Big Sister! But after the first encounter, and easily killing The Big Sister, she just did not seem as big as threat any more, I expected her to be more of stalker and a on going battle with her, but her turned into them, and they became level boss battles. Even new plasmids would of been nice, but no, none at all. 2k Marin seemed to follow the motto: If ain't broke don't fix it! Well you should of gave us a little something something, if you know what I mean. Don't get me wrong, some of Rapture's new levels were awesome (Andrew Ryan's theme park and becoming a little sister was dope) it just didn't seem to bring a breath of fresh air to a place I've been to before. The game was a slow build up, but then to me the last three hours of game play were when the games really shines. Enemies come wave after wave, and with all your level ups and weapons your wreak shop! Plus the ending to me was way better than the first. All in all though, Bioshock 2 was not needed, but 2k Marin did do a good job to bring Rapture back into Video game players lives though. So Bioshock 2 you get 3.5 Boners out of 5 Boners!
Now as for Multi player, please, if 2k Marin can fix freezing problems and Matchmaking even(not putting a level 9 player with level 40) then I'd play the multi player more often. It was just another selling point in my opinion.

So there it is, and if you don't like it, Fuck off.

GAME ON!

The Worst Video games of 2009!

Back again my friends to give these so called "Games" a big kick in they're retarded asses! Every year I spend a lot of money on video games, some really big titles you know that are going to be good, others less known, and most of the time they suck fat dick...plain and simple. Here are the list of the chosen few that really pissed me off, off to the point where these mother fuckers just made me want to turn my systems off, and I did.

5. Bionic Commando

Let me start by saying this game had One of the best multi player modes I have ever played! I wasted a lot of hours on Death match, It was fucking fun, BUT! Multi player is not everything, to me a game has to have a strong single player campaign to really wow me over, and this did not. Being a big fan of the original BC and its remake BC:Rearmed for Xbox live, This game did not live up to its hype, the story was voiced acted so bad I thought I was watching a CGI porn, and Capcom made Nathan "Rad" Spencer look like a fucking wanna be Rasta and should be in Terminator:Salvation(I'll get to you soon). The swinging control felt really off too, I wanted to swing like spider-man and I end up swinging like My dead grandpa(sorry, I love you)! So all together you can't sell me on multi player alone, no matter how good it is.

4. Tekken 6

What the fuck? What the FUCK! I love Tekken, love it. Since the PsOne days I couldn't get enough of this fighter, great hand to hand and the controls were always precise, Every Tekken I have played has been gold, even the Psp version. But when I popped in Tekken 6 for my PS3 on October 21st 2009 I was in a fucking nightmare! LOADING NIGHTMARE! I waited, here it comes, 7 minutes, 7 minutes NO joke! Loading please wait, that's what the bottom right screen kept telling me. LOADING PLEASE WAIT! If I wanted to wait I would have went to Disneyland in the middle of fucking August! The game play and the graphics are solid, but the load times kill it for me, and the story mode, who are they fucking kidding, Tekken you better deal with loading time, bring out a patch via online or something Bandai, I expect better from this franchise.

3. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

This game sucked. It sucked worst than me having to throw up in a pan while I take a nasty watery shit when I have a temperature of 101. That's how much it sucks, OK, This game should be burnt and pissed on by Bumblebee. The controls suck, the graphics to me are sub par this generation of consoles, and the glitches, my god, I love watching enemies feet just levitate above they're fucking heads! The game is so bad I wanted shit myself out of anger! DO NOT PLAY!

2. Terminator: Salvation

Fuck you Grin. Fuck you and fuck McG. This was just a cash in on the movie hype train, you two faggots should be ashamed of yourselves. I had a little faith in the game, but Grin made BC:Rearmed which to me was a great Xbox live title last year, and also made Wanted the game, and that game was OK, but this pile of cat shit really takes the cake. For starters, what game has 9 achievements all worth 80 gamer points, and second why the fuck do all my teammates never shoot, was it a glitch? Is there no AI? It was fucking stupid, I'd rather watch the movie on repeat all day then play this disc again.

1. The Conduit

This game was suppose to be for the Wii what Killzone 2 is was for PS3 and what Halo was for XBOX 360, wow was High Voltage Studios wrong. This sucker sucked. I played this game for no more that 30 minutes when I saw so many rip offs of others games, I gagged. The Enemies look like something straight out of Halo, and the setting straight out of Modern Warfare 1. The invert controls, which you could not change were terrible, while the story played like the latest Michael Bay movie. This game was Hyped too, I'm talking a lot, IGN and XPLAY were both speaking highly about it, which made me want to buy it! And I did! And now I HATE IT! Thanks High Voltage Studios, hope you spent my $54.00 dollars well, cause I didn't!

There you have it, my top 5 worst of 2009. This year to me was a great year for games. I spent a lot of time getting frustrated, but I out shine those moments with a lot of great titles that I loved to keep playing till the very end. I hope next year will be even better with games like Bioshock 2, Red Dead Redemption, Epic Mickey and Singularity all dropping before the end of 2010, till that list comes. GAME ON!

The Winter Stalker By Alex Pardee and Stephen Reedy

That's just a taste, any who I've known Alex for years through my brother Robert Bowen(I'm interviewing very soon) who is a bad ass Artist as well. I've got to know Alex well for the last 4 years, seen his art work change for each project he does and now he's teamed up with a very talented Director Stephen Reedy for a ZEROFRIENDS film called The Winter Stalker..SEE IT HERE! http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2EK6iYqsuE

Top 5 Best Video games of 2009!

Its been awhile since I updated my blog, over a year in fact, and a what a year it has been. I've done alot, worked alot, and seen alot of movies and played a lot of games...ALOT of games. Its not that I don't have a life(who am I kidding, I don't..sigh..) but games are what relaxes me and keeps my mind from eating it self away in this fucked up world I live in...I'm getting off track, anywho, these are my top 5 Best games of 2009! Now these are my top 5, if you don't agree cause you listen to Adam and Morgan or IGN, kiss it! These are the games that I really liked, and also beat.

The Best:

5. Ghostbusters (xbox 360)

Let me tell you a Little tale when I was a young beaner I used to love The Ghosbusters ask my Mom and Dad they will tell you they wasted a lot of money on this franchise. Between the movies and the cartoons I couldn't get away. Years past and all of a sudden BAM! Ghostbusters the video game. This what I wanted in a Ghostbusters video game. All the actors are back, Bill, Dan, Harold, and Winston..I mean Ernie(sorry). The writing is great, the game play to me is solid, even though a lot of people thought it was repetitive, I enjoyed catching ghosts, I just loved passing the levels in general cause it allowed a cut scene to play which I looked forward to every break. I don't think a third movie will live up to its hype, so thanks Terminal Reality Games for bringing the Team back into my life....it was far too long of a wait.

4. Grand Theft Auto 4: Tales from Liberty City- The Lost and Damned/Ballad of Gay Tony (xbox360)

Okay let me just tell you The Houser brothers from Rockstar Games know how to write a story, plain and simple. I love watching everything unfold in these games, it pulls you in like a film, you look forward to the outcome. Luis and Johnny are great characters, you feel for them the whole way, great companions to the already fucking awesome Nico form GTA4. The games added over top action missing from GTA4, adding that element of Vice city or San Andres form the PS2 days. the games has a great price tag($40.00, and you don't need a copy of GTA4 to play) and is long enough to get a great experience. once again Rockstar, You killed it.

3. Resident Evil 5 (xbox360)

This one to me got swept under the rug this year, the game is fucking action packed, it has it scares(a lot of people said it didn't have any, WTF?) and you can play co-op the whole way threw the main story. Having the dlc of versus was fantastic as well. I spent a lot of hours playing this game and let me tell you I loved every minute if it. Between the fast pace game play and the puzzle solving(not as good as past Re titles but fun) and creature and character models and the graphics were a overhaul in my eyes this game is a great addition to the Resident Evil franchise. Lets just hope Capcom doesn't fuck it up with 6.

2. Batman-Arkham Asylum (xbox360)
The Bioshock of '09, This game had a great attention detail and the story, my god, was so epic in scope and game play. I had my doubts when I got this, I thought it was gonna be hype, man was I wrong. My grubby hands popped this baby in my console and I was hooked instantly, from the opening walk with Joker to the fight with Bane, this game was fantastic. Free flow combat added something to game I have never experienced, the way Batman moved and the combo attacks were fucking awesome. Mark Hamil and Kevin Conroy as Joker and Batman add a sense of nostalgia for me due to growing up on the animated series, and having Paul Dini write it, Fan-fucking-tastic! Rocksteady studios shows a great amount of talent as a developer straight out the gate, I hope they don't rush AA2, put time and effort in it guys, I'll wait, even if its a long one.

1. Left 4 Dead 2 (xbox360)

So many scenarios, so many weapons, so many ways to die. I love the first left for dead, and the second is what a sequel should be, MORE MORE MORE! That's what Valve delivers in this game. From Scavenge mode to Realism mode to just plain Co-op, I can't put this game down. The game does throw off some people, some say its to repetitive or too frantic, I feel at home with this One. The AI Director I love cause the game play changes every time, but nothings like getting some friends together online and fucking up some zombies. Valve keep on doing what you do, and I'll be there to pick up the product.

So there you have it, the best. A lot of people are probably asking wheres MW2 or Uncharted 2 or even Borderlands! Well my friend, that's why I have a close call list....

Runner-ups:

Modern Warfare 2- Great Graphics and online play is Fantastic

Uncharted 2- A movie...Enough said.

UFC-Undisputed 2009- I don't watch the sport, but this game is fucking Awesome.

Call of Juarez 2-Bound in Blood- Gotta love a good western.

Street fighter 4- Capcom did it again

So I'll be back in a few to give my Worst Games of 2009, that's when the shit hits the fan.

GAME ON!

Huey Lewis Rides The Pineapple Express!!!!

HUEY MOTHA FUCKING LEWIS!!!!!

Thats right sukas, Huey lewis is smoking that Pineapple Express. I picked up the sound track album today to the film that opens tonight(at midnight in the wc, thats right i'm smoking a fat blunt and watching that movie tonight!) and Huey lewis sings the theme song for the stoner/action adventure film. Classic Huey at his best, from the saxaphone that screams to the lryics that make Huey's songs classic: Better grab your chillum/and get all your gear/we got problems,we gotta get out of here/but i got you and you got me/and we are as high as can be/its alright. Classic. This adds a little fuel to fire that is Pineapple express, and why too see it. If I could have a second dad it would be Huey Lewis. There I Said it! DID HERE ME DAD, I WANT HUEY AS MY FATHER!!!!! WHAT YOU SAY NOW!!! Okay, I'll calm down and read some Marmaduke Comics. Pick up the soundtrack and see the movie, don't see The Dark Night for the 20th time, Go see A comdey with Buds-Pineapple Express!!!!!

So Here it is.....

So Here it is folks, The very first blog I've written on besides the myspace. Here you will find me ranting about what I rant about best, entertainment, From Music to films to the mother fucker I hate at Blockbuster on Mt. diablo Blvd, I hate his face and every time i go there he never says, "Find everything okay?" or "Thanks have a good day.", just his dumb face that has no........I'm getting off the subject here. Anyway, I hope you find yourself saying, "I wonder what Paul's up to?" and you find your way here to read my thoughts.... Thanks.
